When talking about the business of custom zippers, zipper slider is a term we often see, such as locking and non-locking slider. Do you know what the difference is between them? Through this article, Delux, a custom zipper manufacturer, will share the standard terms and explanations of zipper sliders in custom zippers. Let's take a look at them together.

We've had customers order zippers, and they asked for non-locking sliders but didn't realize the function of the slider they were using. After sewing the zipper into the dress, they quickly realized that the zipper would not stay on top of the dress. This is why customers need to understand the terminology of zipper sliders when customizing zippers. Of course, it is also essential for the salesperson to communicate with the customer during the customization process to understand their needs and advise them on the right choice.

1. A non-locking slider is a slider that has no internal pins. It opens effortlessly even if the sides of the zipper teeth are slightly pulled away from the open end.

Non-locking sliders are used for tote bags, handbags, tents, or where there is little cross tension.

2. The locking slider has an internal pin. It sits on the zipper teeth and keeps the slider in that position. The zipper slider stays in place and does not move until it is moved manually.

Use the locking slider when making dresses, skirts, jackets, and zippered sweatshirts for places where you don't want the slider to move.

3. A semi-locking slider, aka auto-locking slider, is a slider that slides down when the pull is in the up position but when the flip lock is in place.

Semi-locking sliders are used for jeans or pants with fly zippers. 4.

4. The Open Trunk Slider is a slider that does not have a pull. It is usually ordered when you add a custom zipper pull to a zipper. The trunk (top) of the slider is open, allowing you to add tension. You will still need to use a tool to close the trunk, so the tension does not come off. 5. The Reversible Slider is used when the garment is reversible, and you want the zipper to perform the same function from both sides.

Reversible sliders are commonly used on jackets and sweatshirts.

Now you should understand zipper slider terminology and know what zipper sliders are suitable for what types of products. If you have any other questions about custom zippers, welcome to contact Delux. As a professional zipper manufacturer, we can surely answer them for you.
