MUSCAT’S NEWEST RESTAURANT IS A TASTE OF SHANGHAI’S GOLDEN ERA

A new addition to the culinary offering at W Muscat, Ba Ban is a celebration of elegant Art Deco design, fusing Chinese aesthetics with modern Eastern décor. A dark, eclectic colour palette is cosy and inviting, with an air of moody sophistication laced through leather seating, jewel-colored fabrics and low-lit lamps.
Promising to bring the glamour of Paris and the vibrance of Shanghai to Muscat’s dining scene, Ba Ban, which literally translates to “eight beats” in reference to the music scene of the decades that saw a hybrid form of Chinese jazz blossom, is a flight through modern Chinese flavours.
Lead by chef Dayi Nong, the culinary team at Ba Ban prseents an authentic menu inspired by the kitchens of China that includes delicious dim sum, classic Peking duck with a Cantonese twist, silky noodles and mango pomelo sago pudding. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 4.30pm, long lunches are served up alongside a colourful array of mixed drinks.
Ba Ban joins an existing array of global flavours at W Muscat, which includes poolside Latin American eats at the W’s signature Wet Deck, steakhouse and grill Char and the Oman outpost of globally renowned Siddharta Lounge by Buddha-Bar.
